Son Of Kong (named after a Frank Zappa song) is a pedal "of massive aural proportions" created by Arthur Sloatman, Frank Zappa’s guitar tech who put this EQ circuit in all of Frank’s stage guitars beginning in 1979. This powerful pedal has a wide range of sounds from overdrive and EQ to wild infinite sustain. This is one of the best sounding pedals I have ever owned.
I have Van Zandt Vintage Plus replacement pickups in my Fender Stratocaster, and they are the best pickups I have ever heard. Absolute clarity, range, and warmth. Kick in the overdrive pedal and they get angry. Pure rock and blues tone without those harsh ear-piercing highs that so often come with Strat pickups in the bridge position. A lot of care goes into these hand-wound earthy pickups.
